Creating content that stretches the boundaries of web entertainment is its own reward, and Fuel Industries dedicates itself willingly to that cause. Receiving recognition from online peers is powerful motivation, but receiving notice from FWA that Fuel had scored its eleventh Site of the Day ensures that the Ottawa agency has the drive to keep the flames of creativity burning well into the future.
One of Fuel’s latest projects, The Pocket Geek, has been selected as March 2nd’s Site of the Day. Created for embedded software developer QNX, the site features a compelling Sims-esque experience where visitors are given charge of a miniature software coder with five days to finish the big project. Using a host of motivators ranging from energy drink to earthquakes, players will need to keep a sharp eye on the geek’s productivity and energy meters to milk him for every ounce of code possible before the clock runs out. The top winner every month is eligible for a sexy prize pack featuring a PS3, an iPod touch and much more.
Some of Fuel’s prior recognition on FWA has included a viral campaign for GAP called “Watch Me Change”, where users send a virtual striptease to friends, a cinematic driving experience for Nokia entitled “The Passenger” that sees web denizens racing through the streets of Paris, and Fuel’s very own home page—on two occasions.
With a number of exciting projects slated for release in the coming year, including the launch of several of its own licensed properties, Fuel is looking forward to raising the bar for online entertainment even higher in 2008.
