The Weekly Link Dump

BY: NICK IANNITTI  |  Weekly Link Dump

Good Wednesday to you all; I return with another team of tasty links, ranging from the artistic to the absurd.

Starting off, we have a look back at some fantastic pieces done by Soviet artists back during the space-race showing what their vision of the future was. Were Fuel’s artists inspired enough by the art to create an interactive project featuring a digital Yuri Gagarin battling a pixellated John Glenn atop a futuristic Soviet starship? No. No they weren’t. But a big thanks goes out to Dark Roasted Blend for compiling these.

Anyone who’s ever visited our studio will know that we have a foosball table in the lunch room, and it’s far from lonely. Some of the matches that take place at lunch border on the epic, but there’s always been a shortcoming–only four people could play at a time (well, technically eight very thin employees). I’m happy to say that Amstel has got the problem solved. Table Football XXL, made by the dutch beer brewer, can fit a whopping 11 players per team, which would effectively occupy more than a quarter of our staff. Forget “Fuel’s Biggest Loser” as a weight loss incentive–this is the best way to make sure people don’t eat at lunch.

Finally, with the latest iterations in two of the biggest driving-themed videogame franchises having been released in the last couple of weeks (MarioKart and GTA), GameGirl.com has celebrated by making a pretty well thought-out list of the sweetest rides in videogaming history. From Mario’s dino helper Yoshi, to Final Fantasy’s delicious-looking Chocobos, to Link’s ever-faithful Epona, they’ve got more digitally-subjugated animals than you can shake a joystick at. You can check it out here.

Thanks for reading, and see you all again soon!
