How Toulouse Weight

BY: NICK IANNITTI  |  Fuel Buzz

Today was the final weigh-in for “Fuel’s Biggest Loser,” and boy do we have a biggest loser in our midst. Looking at our progress board, you’d see that all but a few stalwart Fuellians soon succumbed to their appetites and couches, some quitting with a dizzing ferocity and speed that the subsequent ‘lame’ scrawled next to their names could never adequately express (I, myself, lost only one pound, though I did stand on that scale today in proud celebration of my failure).

Of the few who altered their habits so fervently for their waistline’s sake, none stands above Pat Toulouse, who proved that he’s as skilled at shedding pounds as he is at 3D art. In only three months, he took his weight from a robust 248 pounds to a svelte 169. The secret? None other than good old fashioned diet and excercise.

A word of caution, however: while diet and exercise remain the only real ‘miracle cure’ to being overweight, losing 80 pounds in as little time as Pat did can be taxing on the body (after all, he lost over a third of his body weight in three months - at that rate, in six more months, he would have existed only in two dimensions, not a great career move for a 3D artist). Toulouse’s solution was to be very careful with his progress:

“During my weight loss, I have been monitoring everything: fat percentage, BMI, blood pressure, food, workout schedules. I also had a few visits with my doctor, to make sure everything was ok. I used a software to keep track of everything and made PDF logs and calendars,” said Pat. “Having 20+ people against you is a big challenge, and it makes you want to workout harder and keep yourself motivated.” If all that seems like a lot of work just to lose a bit of weight, Pat’s netted himself a handsome some of money for his achievements. If that’s not enough, he’s got the satisfaction of having made a fantastic change in his life–the results speak for themselves (click to see the picture full size):

Toulouse Before and After

If you’re wondering why he looks so much happier in the before picture, you’ll have to ask him, but I suspect it’s for the same reason that his celebratory dinner tonight will be at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

We’re not planning on posting a list…we wouldn’t want to shame the dropouts even further.
