Weighing our Odds

BY: NICK IANNITTI  |  Fuel Buzz

Running out the door last Monday morning, I remembered that it was the big weigh in for “Fuel’s Biggest Loser”. Grabbing the first shorts I could find, I left my apartment and headed into work. Several hours later, standing sheepishly in my Grade-9 gym shorts, or at least something that closely resembled them, I took in the sights and sounds of a kitchen full of people in bare feet and ill-fitting garments lining up to weigh themselves. This is the future of weight loss.

It has now been a week since the official weigh in, and I must say, I have never seen so many packed lunches in a fridge. Much as I admire the immediate change toward healthier eating, I fear that the lack of business from Fuel may singlehandedly put all of the restaurants in the Westboro area out of business. We are now a critical mass of almond-snacking, raisin-munching, carbohydrate-moderating weight watchers, and the local businesses are sure to take note when the usual hordes of hungry and belligerent writers, artists, and developers don’t stumble through their doors at 12:15. Creating some of the web’s best interactive content takes a lot of energy, and I fear that weeks of spinach wraps and cold chicken sandwiches may take their psychological toll on the team here.

Still, I must admit that, as of yet, I see no evidence of mental meltdown in any of my colleagues, and for this I am thankful. This week, there are a number of exciting projects wrapping up that we can’t wait to tell you about, and we all need to be in top form for their release.

Until very soon!
