Five Questions with Nick Iannitti, Public Relations Manager

BY: NICK IANNITTI  |  Five Questions

One of our New Year’s resolutions over here at Fuel is to bring you more frequent updates, more exciting news and more detailed glimpses at what life is actually like in our Ottawa shop. Part of that resolution involves sitting down with our newest team members and finding out what makes them tick. Hence, for our first “Five Questions” of the year, I’m extremely hyped to be interviewing an exciting new addition to our team: me. Let the self-aggrandizement begin.

My, that’s a lovely cologne you’re wearing. I find it intoxicating.

I don’t want to come right out of the gate with criticism, but, technically, that’s not a question. Oh, and thank you…it’s Versace.

So, sources tell me you’re from Ottawa. How does it feel coming into a company like Fuel in your very own town?

Anyone who’s from Ottawa will tell you it’s a government town. And they’d be right. But there’s a lot more to Ottawa than meets the eye. Ottawa is filled with a lot of exceptionally unique talent and a wealth of people with fantastic ideas–Fuel realized this, and, rather than moving to a larger centre, decided to make use of the vast network of local talent. In doing so, Fuel became a true diamond in the rough for this town at its inception. Since then, Fuel’s roster has expanded to include great talent from around the world, but still maintains its local roots, and encourages more creative minds to consider Ottawa as a base of operations.

In the half week I’ve been here, I’ve already enjoyed the company of some of the most impressive creative minds I’ve ever known, and I must say, it makes promoting our company’s work very easy for me.

Yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask, what exactly do you do here, anyway?

Fuel’s stomping ground is the Internet. The internet is a very big place. To get an idea of its size, imagine that mothership from Independence Day scotch-taped to a jumbo jet, crashing into the Grand Canyon. That would be the doormat. Impressive, no? Part of my job as Public Relations Manager is tapping into the vast avenues that are available to today’s online agency. We think the work we’re doing is really original, and we think that a lot of people on the internet will feel the same way. I’ll be contributing to our blog, but also ensuring that the entertainment we produce is being shared with the world to the best of our abilities.

You mentioned the infinite talent of your colleagues. Well, what makes you so great? Besides your dizzying allure, I mean.

I suspect that my greatest contributions in my new position will come from my experience with verbalizing abstract concepts. A lot of Fuel’s products need to be seen or experienced firsthand to be fully appreciated. Until a client, journalist, blogger or consumer is able to do that, words are a big part of communicating our work’s value. I, in conjunction with the rest of the communications team, intend to create a voice for our work that can keep up with the pace of the ideas being generated by our creative staff. The fact that I’ve always cared deeply about new technology, video games and the Internet only allows me to perform this duty with more passion.

That sounds like a lot of words. Did you actually even say anything there?

Um…I gotta go. *door opens, then slams*

Well, I think that went pretty well. Sure, it ended abruptly, he may be slightly unbalanced, and he appears to have slipped something into my drink…but there, ladies and gentlemen…there goes the greatest man I’ve ever met.

This is Nick Iannitti signing out. Please, join us again very soon for more excitement from Fuel Industries!

So…this is an interview about Nick, written BY Nick? Interesting. We must figure out which one is Good!Nick and which one is Evil!Nick, before it’s too late.

PS. Ottawa IS fabulous, thank you for saying that. You’re the first person I’ve met who’s actually from here originally that doesn’t complain about how uninspiring and “boring” it is…I can’t believe it! I was beginning to think that maybe it takes an outsider’s perspective to truly appreciate the awesomeness that is Ottawa. To those people who diss on this beautiful city, I say: go live in Hamilton for two and a half years like I did, and then hurry back begging Ottawa for forgiveness before your soul perishes.
